About 2048
2048 turns a small number grid into a planning puzzle. Each move shifts the tiles in one direction, combining equal numbers into a larger tile. The target is a 2048 tile, but keeping enough empty space to continue is the challenge along the way.
How to play 2048
- Choose a direction with an arrow key to slide the tiles across the board.
- Bring equal numbers together: two 2 tiles produce a 4, two 4 tiles produce an 8, and the sequence continues.
- Check the board after each move. A new tile appears, changing which combinations are available.
- Continue merging toward 2048. A full board with no possible moves ends the attempt.
Controls
- Arrow keys: slide tiles up, down, left or right.
Playing tips
- Keep your largest tile in a corner so smaller tiles can be organized around it.
- Look at the result of a move before committing: a merge is less useful if it leaves the board blocked.
- Preserve empty cells and combine smaller tiles to make space for the next spawn.
